Management

Michael Garb, Chief Executive Officer

Michael was appointed CEO of StarVista (then YFES) in April, 2008,
following 16 years serving on the boards of both Family
and Community Enrichment Services (FACES) and Youth and Family Enrichment Services (YFES). In 1992, Michael was elected to the Belmont-Redwood
Shores School District, serving two terms as President of the Board.
His professional background includes senior management positions in both finance and operations for a number of Bay Area companies. Michael's business and public service experience guide his commitment to serve the children and families of our community through StarVista's life-transforming work.

Dianette Washer, Chief Financial Officer

Dianette has worked in the non-profit sector in San Mateo County for over 20
years, with various programs and agencies that are now part of StarVista. Prior to joining FACES, Inc. in 1997, Dianette served as the Director of Finance and Administration at the Suicide Prevention and Crisis Center in Burlingame for 12 years. A native of Denmark, Dianette earned a B.S. in Accounting from Hayward State University and is an avid admirer of the Bay Area's natural beauty.

Douglas Styles, PsyD, Clinical Director

Douglas joined StarVista (then YFES) in January, 2004, as the Director of the Department of Crisis, Youth, and Family Services. He came to the organization
from River Oak Center for Children in Sacramento, and has extensive
experience supervising clinical staff, providing therapy, and
directing the administrative operations of programs serving high-need
families. Douglas is a Licensed Psychologist, a Licensed Marriage and
Family Therapist, and a Registered Drama Therapist. He received his
Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from the California
School of Professional Psychology and is an Adjunct Faculty member of
Capella University.

Clarise is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who joined StarVista (then FACES) as Program Manager of the Women's Enrichment Center in August, 2000.
Prior to that, Clarise served as a Supervisor at Pyramid Alternatives
in Pacifica for 10 years, where she worked with adults, children and
youth, and provided counseling for individuals struggling with
addictions, mental health issues and domestic violence. A graduate of
the University of California, Berkeley with a B.A. in Economics,
Clarise also earned an M.A. in Counseling and Guidance from the
University of Reno, and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the
Northern California Graduate University.

Judith Jones, M.A, Development Director

A native of Great Britain, Judith earned her M.A. at Oxford University
and worked as a General Manager in London’s National Health Service
before coming to California and starting a career in the Bay Area
nonprofit sector. Judith joined the Development Department at
StarVista (then YFES) in August 2005. She has worked as the Executive Director of
the Community Breast Health Project (now Breast Cancer Connections)
in Palo Alto, and as a consultant to a variety of local nonprofits.

Sara Larios Mitchell, Ph.D., MACP, Director, Department of Early
Childhood, Family and Youth Services

Sara has 10 years of experience working in the mental health field
addressing the issues of domestic violence, trauma, and co-occurring
disorders. Her passion is working with children, adolescents, and
families. She graduated from Golden Gate University with her Master’s
in Counseling Psychology in 1997 and then with her Doctorate in
Transpersonal Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal
Psychology in June 2005. She began at StarVista (then YFES) as the GIRLS Program intern in January 2005 and then transferred to Women’s Enrichment
Center as mental health clinician. She accepted a position as the
GIRLS Program Manager in 2006 and became a Department Director in
2008.
